One more week until thecagenews.com releases the master list of top pound for pound fighters. And it is safe to say that several names from this week’s groups will be right in the thick of the best of the best debate. First up is the most stacked of Utah’s weight classes. In fact, the middleweight division is so stacked that five spots were just not enough.

185 Middleweight

1. Derek Downey

2. Court McGee

3. Jake Paul

4. Nick Rossborough

5. Bill Brewer

Honorable Mention) Tim Panter, Lee Doss, Jorge Lopez, Robert Sandstrom.

(Please note that honorable mentions are listed in no particular order. Thecagenews.com staff is asking for input on this one.)

170 Welterweight

Maybe not as deep as the middleweight class, the welterweight still brings us some of the most exciting and dynamic fighters we have ever seen locally. Lucky for us, the pecking order is more clear, and all five of these fighters are still active locally, but with at least three of them looking ready to make the big jump, now is the time to catch these guys live.

1. DaMarques Johnson

2. Chris Kennedy

3. Mike Arrant

4. Nate Gerrard

5. Harold Lucambio

I am friends with Chris and have watched him fight in Vegas as well as here. I personally think everyone will be surprised when he beats DeMarques. DeMarques is a great fighter but Chris is tougher than nails and with the style matchup DeMarques will be in trouble!! Much respect to both fighters!

Jeremy Brown would be on the list but he did retire from fighting earlier this year. He is a great guy and I wish he was fighting still!

I am excited as hell to see Damarques fight Kennedy. Kennedy looked tough in his last fights vs. Arrant and Kelton, but D is in the zone, and I don't see him loosing anytime soon.

I was thinking Jeremy Brown would be on this list. He is a 185er, right? Not even listing him in the Honorable mention is strange, being that he has beat some at the top of the list.

Does Court know who he is fighting yet?

Good luck to court. Hope he shines when the time is right.

Burkman wouldn't be on this list since he isn't fighting locally any more. It would be scary to see him fight anyone in town! FYI- We here that Burkman is about to sign the biggest fight of his UFC career! We will keep you posted as we here more.
