No one can accuse the proprietors of Throwdown Elite Training Center for cutting corners. Months have come and gone since the gym in Orem was slated to open, but in the name of perfection, Adam Legas and Chad Deucher weren't about to call it good until every last detail was just right.

That day has come. On Saturday, Throwdown ETC will throw open the doors to the public during a daylong grand opening. The event gets started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. at 1640 South State St. in Orem. Take I-15 to the University Parkway exit and head east, then turn right on State Street.

Here's the Throwdown opening article.

There's lots going on, but for fight fans the best news is likely that Throwdown will show the Affliction: Banned event live at 7 p.m., featuring heavyweights Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia, and then will follow up the Affliction event with a recorded replay of the UFC's Fight Night featuring Anderson Silva vs. James Irvin in Silva's first UFC light-heavyweight bout.

Throughout the day 97.1, KBER 101 and X96 will do remote broadcasts in shifts from 12 to 6 and give away prizes. Other print media will be on hand and the Throwdown crew will offer tours and training sessions. You can sign up for discounted memberships, check out some of the supplements the facility will offer and talk to the in-house nutritional expert. Also check out the custom Throwdown chopper from Addiction motorcycles. There will also be food and drinks on hand.

For more on the Throwdown facility, listen to The Cage on 1280 AM between 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday or listen online at www.1280thezone.com.

You dont need permission to show the fights if you are paying for them and not charging and entrance fewe to see them....its just like going to a buddies house or the bar to watch them. Trust me companies that run the payperview events know how many people can occupy your place through the standards of practice applied from each different satelite or cable provider. Anyway come check out the gym and the fights....gonna be a great night

The answer is yes, we have permission to show the fights. Make the trek, come early and hang out.

I am excited for the facility I just wish they would've picked a closer location to SLC, i talked with the guy running the Throwdown booth and Horns EFN this past saturday and he mentioned sometime within the next couple years they plan on opening one in SLC.

Apparently they are showing Affliction for free? I wonder if they are actually purchasing a group viewing license for that.

In any case, it's awesome for Utah MMA fans willing to make the trek down there.
